BC PNP Healthcare Professional

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP)  Healthcare Professional category helps physicians, nurses, specialists and allied health professionals gain Canadian permanent residence in B.C.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible, you MUST meet ALL the following criteria:

 

1. EMPLOYMENT OFFER FROM A B.C. PUBLIC HEALTH AUTHORITY

Have accepted a full-time or indeterminate job offer (a permanent job, or one with no set end date) with a provincial public health authority as a:

  • Must have a letter of confirmation from an established practice group in British Columbia confirming your acceptance into the group as an affiliated midwife for a period of at least six (6) months. This letter must be on the practice group's official letterhead, and must be signed by you and the head of the practice group.
  • Must be registered, with the College of Midwives of British Columbia.

 

2. EMPLOYMENT OFFER

The employment offer must be in writing.

Job offer must:

  • Be in writing on official letterhead.
  • Be for at least 1 year in duration.
  • Include details of the work you will perform (the job duties).
  • Include your type of pay (commission, salary or hourly wage) and the amount. The wage must be comparable to market rates.
  • Include any conditions of employment (e.g. hours of work, vacation, benefits).
  • Be signed by an authorized officer of the company.
  • Be dated.
  • Be counter-signed by you accepting the offer.

 

If the offered occupation requires certification, licensing or registration you must provide documentation showing that you meet these requirements or how these requirements will be met as soon as possible.

 

3. WORK EXPERIENCE

Have minimum 2 years of full-time or equivalent experience in the skilled occupation to which you are applying.

* Any hours over 30 is not eligible; part-time workers can work more or less than 15 hours per week as long as it adds up to 3,120 hours within 5 years (260 weeks).

 

4. EDUCATION

Show proof of at least your secondary (high school) education credential whether earned in Canada or in another country.

 

Having a valid post-secondary education credential improves your selection scoring under the Comprehensive Ranking System.

  • Completed credential (a certificate, diploma, or degree) from a recognized educational or training institution; AND
  • An Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report performed by an independent designated company that evaluates your foreign education credential. This report is used to make sure that your foreign degree, diploma, certificate (or other proof of your credential) is valid and equal to a Canadian one.

 

5. PROOF OF FUNDS

You must show that you have enough income to support you and your family's cost of living in B.C.

6. OFFICIAL LANGUAGE LEVEL

If your job offer is for a Skill Level 0 or A occupation, you are not required to submit valid language test results.

 

If your job offer is for a Skill Level B occupation, you must submit valid test results for least one of Canada's official languages, English or French, showing you have obtained a minimum score equal to or greater than  Benchmark 4 in all four language abilities: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

Language tests results are valid for two (2) years after the date of the test result. 

Your test results must be valid on the day your immigration application is submitted.

 

7. WHERE YOU CAN LIVE IN CANADA

Plan to live in British Columbia. For you to qualify for a provincial nominee program you must reside in the province that nominates you.

 

8. ADMISSIBILITY

Be admissible to Canada. You and your family members must not be inadmissible to Canada for security, criminal or medical reasons.
